This book is worth reading and is a refreshing addition to any breastfeeding mother's or helper's library. It illustrates the fact that there is ‘a biological framework independent of culture’ that governs the link between breastfeeding and mammalian behaviour. The authors emphasise that breastfeeding must be seen as an emotional relationship, rather than as a step-by-step system of box-ticking. Babies are in fact 'hardwired' to breastfeed.
